Joe Nemzer enters his second season at the helm of the Mount St. Mary's women's soccer program after being hired in February of 2016.
Nemzer comes to the Mount after serving as an assistant coach at Central Michigan for the past three seasons, where he acted as the director of external relations and goalkeeper coach, while also playing a vital role in recruiting, video coordinating, advanced scouting and overseeing scheduling. The Chippewas posted a total of 20 wins and earned two Mid-American Conference Tournament appearances during Nemzer's three years with the program.
In his first season at Central Michigan, goalkeeper Grace Labrecque finished the year with eight shutouts, which was the fifth most in program history, and also earned Second Team All-MAC honors under the tutelage of Nemzer.
Prior to his time at CMU, Nemzer was the head assistant women's coach at Fort Hays State in Hays, Kan. for two seasons. In just the second year of the program's existence, he helped guide the Tigers to a MIAA Conference Championship and NCAA Tournament berth.
Nemzer also spent one season as an assistant coach at Ottawa University in Ottawa Kan., where he helped guide the team to a 15-3-2 record as they claimed a Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship. During his time in Kansas, he was also the head coach of the girls soccer team at Lawrence High School.
In 2009, Nemzer was an assistant with the men's and women's soccer programs at University of Alabama in Huntsville, where he helped lead the men's team to an unbeaten season in Gulf South Conference play and its first conference championship appearance in 10 years after five straight losing seasons.
Nemzer currently serves as a Goalkeeper Coach for the Region II Olympic Development Program (ODP) and the United States Soccer Training Centers.
During his playing days, Nemzer was a starting goalkeeper at Penn State Abington, where he helped lead the Lions to consecutive conference tournament semifinal appearances in 2007 and 2008. Nemzer was also an outfielder on the baseball team during his time in college.
Originally from Philadelphia, Nemzer received his bachelor's degree in business administration from Penn State Abington in the spring of 2009. He holds a United States Soccer Federation National `D' License and an NSCAA Goalkeeping diploma.
